Adventure at its best

About the Tour Operator Print E-mail

About the Tour OperatorAndre Killikelly’s homeland adventures began in 1984 as a boy scout on his first expedition to Guyana’s rainforest.  Andre and sixty other scouts participated in a month-long Boy Scouts’ Vocational Camp at Lethem in Guyana, and Boa Vista, Brazil.   At the time this was a rare opportunity for an average young Guyanese boy; the experience left its imprint on the young scout’s mind.
Andre Killikelly was especially impressed with the beauty of the cattle county; of the Kanuku Mountains, the golden Rupununi Savannah lands and surrounding Amerindian villages he visited.  He made a promise to himself…he would revisit the area every year.
In 1986 on their way to another scout camp, this time in Guyana’s North West district, Andre and fellow scouts were ferried “on the high seas for 24 hrs”, an experience he now describes as: “the adventure of a lifetime”.

These expeditions facilitated by the Boy Scouts Movement in Guyana continued over the years –
In 1990, with award group of five venture scouts on a three hundred and thirty (330) mile overland trek from Mabura to Lethem, forced to map through a forty mile swamp from Kurupukari to Surama junction.

In 1991, July to September, selected this time by the army training core…a volunteer on the second Operation Raleigh Expedition in Guyana.  Young Killikelly was among the venturers, youths from the United Kingdom and Guyana who participated in diverse community development projects in remote Amerindian villages.

In 1995 Andre became chairman of the Guyana Raleigh Support Group assigned to indentify projects and select trained local venturers for the annual July to December Raleigh expeditions.
In 1997, through numerous waterfalls in an open speedboat, on yet another Raleigh expedition reconnaissance exercise, this time in the mountainous Upper Mazaruni River District, the idea of Falls View Tours was conceived.

Transforming Falls View Tours from conception to reality required the application of determination, hard work and skill, all which Andre Killikelly had acquired in the challenging cumulative experiences he’d gained from traversing Guyana’s demanding hinterland environment.

To date he has explored eighty percent of this Land of Many Waters and exotic beauty and still eager to explore the rest of it with venture tourists with the desire to have Falls View Tours take them into regions of unimaginable pristine beauty in Guyana’s Rainforest.
Falls View Tours officially started activities in September 1998 with rigorous overland tours around the country. Since then we have been catering to delighted eco-tourists from countries all over the globe.
